“Lebanon’s top Shiite cleric Fadlallah dies at 75” contains a disturbing, evil paragraph:
“A grandfatherly figure, Fadlallah was known for his courageous fatwas, or religious edits – including one that gave women the right to hit back their husbands if they attacked them. The cleric also called for boycotting American and Israeli products. He also issued an edict banning smoking.”
In other words, a sweet old man, courageously supporting women, fighting smoking and against the US and Israel.
It would have been sweeter and more courageous if he would have supported Israel.
Isn’t that what religious leaders are for, to point out the moral options, even when politicians object?
AP should not condone immoral standpoints or report them as sweet and courageous.
